Lately I have been drawing almost every day as a visual meditation aimed at inducing a sense of ‘flow’. I have found its a lot of fun to draw into the watercolor teaching samplers I create as a part of teaching my watercolor workshops. They are so beautiful that I wanted to work further into them.

Let me introduce you to my new art project A Drawing A Day For Good.

It has become a daily process for me most days, in addition to my regular studio painting and other work, to sit down to draw into the samplers. I look at the (often) abstract watercolor samplers and ‘find’ an image in them that means something to me.

Doing meditative drawing every day is helpful way for me to try to counter the effects of the news we all hear everyday outlining difficult problems in our county and beyond.

I am grateful for my life, my home, my art and my family. It is important to pay attention to what is happening in the world around us and to do what we can to work to make the world better. I often wish I were in a position to do more for others who are in more difficult circumstances.

In an effort to resolve two concerns (my mounting pile of small drawings I love and my limiting fixed income) I have decided to offer an unframed watercolor and ink artworks for sale each day for at least 30 days at the price of $100. The profits to be donated to good causes that I choose. If all goes well I may continue the project longer but I am committed to doing this for at least the month of January 2024.

Let me know if one of these drawings are meant to be yours. Any works remaining in my inventory when I complete this project will have their price increased to reflect their real market value.

I originally planned to create a gallery in this post and add to it every day I posted a piece, but after a month I just kept on making and posting drawings for sale for good . As I write this I am just starting my third month of postings. Let’s see how long continue!
