End at the Beach, watercolor, 5x7, 2011 Nikki Kinne

Welcome to day seventeen in the 33 Paintings in 33 Days Project of Alaskan artist  Nikki Kinne and Wisconsin artist Helen Klebesadel.

Nikki’s painting is inspired from sketches from her last night at Bjorklunden when she visited Wisconsin’s Door County in 2009.  That year she joined me co-teaching a watercolor workshop at Bjorklunden like she will again this year in September.

Nikki played with the title to reflect the intention of the painting to capture many final possibilities – sunset at the beach, or glowing endings, or beginning ending , or finding the right place to be– cycles of life.

Last Pink Poppy, watercolor, 9x12, ©2011 Helen Klebesadel

The spring slipped away so quickly that I spent a morning capturing the last of the poppies in photographs.  This painting is based on one of those photos.  I am a gardener who grows both vegetables and flowers, including poppies.  I love trying to capture impressions of these wonderful flowers each year.

We are enjoying this experience of creative exchange.  Thank you for joining us on the journey!

I am now making my daily works for this project available for sale online in my Meylah shop here: http://meylah.com/HelenKlebesadel  I post them each day after they are posted in the blog.
